Primal Instincts book 6
THE MORE DANGEROUS THE DESIRE…
THE MORE DELICIOUS THE SURRENDER
Kellan Scott, the Lycan shape-shifter, has vowed to redeem his playboy past…even allowing himself to be captured by his enemies to save a woman he’s never met. Once imprisoned, stealing into Chloe Harcourt’s cell is the easy part— withstanding her irresistible beauty is next to impossible.

Chloe has struggled to keep her unusual powers over other people’s emotions in check, never trusting that any man could truly love her for herself. Until her mesmerizing rescuer awakens a primal craving for contact.

Their all-consuming passion is their strongest weapon against their sadistic captor. But Kellan’s biggest battle may still lie ahead: to convince Chloe he’s worthy of her undying love…or die trying.
*****
I received this book from net galley. This is another excellent PNR series. I stumbled across the first trilogy in the series several months ago. These books have a really interesting storyline and great characters.
Kellan has taken the rescue of Chloe Harcourt on himself. He feels that if he can rescue her, he can redeem himself to his family and friends. I think the tag of playboy fits him very well. He was always sleeping around, and it nearly got people he loved dearly, hurt on a previous mission. He's all sexy alpha male, and a sort of tragic hero. He feels a lot of guilt over many bad choices, and you can feel the need for him to change himself. I liked that he had a sense of humor, and was a little more down to earth in this book. He feels unworthy of Chloe, but really tries to comfort her and give her everything she needs. He was always putting her needs above his own, and fights hard to keep the lycan part of himself from ruling many of his decisions.
Chloe has always been a bit of a loner, being a witch and having the Mallory curse hang over her made making friends hard. I liked her character. She was shy, but always said what she meant and had a little spunk, too. She fights for what she believes in, and isn't afraid to have confronting conversations. Having lived her life with the curse, she thinks it's making Kellan have feelings for her, which she believes aren't real. With her Merrick fighting for release, she knows she has to take what Kellan offers, but hates that she's using him. She's also rather protective of Kellan, and puts a few of his friends and family in their place after making some joking comments about Kellans previous way of life.
Kellan tries to make her realize that what he feels is real, and he tries really hard to convince her. I think they make a really good couple, making each other stronger just by realizing their feelings. In Chloe's case, Kellans love for her makes her magic stronger, and she is able to destroy one of their enemies.
There are many characters from the previous books in this series, with a few new additions. It was great to read about previous couples and where they are, and I am really looking forward to the next trilogy in Rhyannons series. I give it 4/5.
